African American librarians

The Dorothy Porter Wesley Collection contains manuscript materials, artwork, newspaper clippings, research files, correspondence and books documenting Afro-Brazilian, African American, and Afro-Caribbean history and culture. The collection also contains manuscript material including photographs, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and awards documenting the professional and personal life of librarian and bibliophile, Dorothy Porter Wesley.

The collection contains personal and professional papers of Julie Hunter. Materials include correspondence to and from Julie Hunter, professional papers documenting her career at the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, African American Research Library and Cultural Center, and Broward County Library, photographs, notes, certificates, plaques, newspaper clippings, audio-visual materials, and one framed poster.

The Samuel F. Morrison Collection contains correspondence, books, professional and personal papers, photographs, scrapbooks, plaques, ephemera, vinyl records, VHS tapes documenting the professional and personal life of Librarian Samuel F. Morrison. Books and vinyl records donated by Samuel Morrison can be accessed through the Broward County Library catalog.

The Vivian D. and John H. Hewitt Collection contains materials focusing on black art, particulaly those representing the history and culture of Haiti.
