Biographical / Historical
The African American Success Foundation (AASF) was founded in 1997 and operated as a not-for-profit, 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization until 2020, governed by a Board of Directors composed of community leaders, scholars, professionals and business people who volunteered their time because of their dedication to AASF‘s mission — Promoting the Positive Image of African Americans. The work of the organization was conducted through committees of the Board with the help of additional volunteers throughout the country, enabling AASF to successfully fund scientific research and disseminate information that will inform the public about the success attitudes and behaviors of African American high achievers.
Founded by Dr. E. Carol Webster, President/CEO Emerita of the African American Success Foundation — the think tank whose mission for 20 years until its successful completion in 2020 was to provide research grants to scholars to study Black success instead of the usual focus on Black deficits, failings, and dysfunctions and to broadly disseminate this information to promote the positive image of African Americans.
